BIG day today. I’m proud to and launch of our iOS app. Several weeks ago , an active Product Hunt user*, offered to build an iOS app. Gladly I responded with a figurative “hell yeah”. Although I know David’s embarrassed by the current build (because he sees all its flaws and opportunity to improve the app), he’s done an AMAZING job with the design and development. Well done, and thanks everyone for the feedback during the design process (). *With one exception, everyone working on Product Hunt began as avid users of the product before they reached out to me to join the team. I’m super fortunate.
Congrats Ryan & team :)
Congrats! :)
Congrats, Ryan. It has been fun watching Product Hunt grow into what it is today. I'm sure you have some amazing things planned for PH and I can't wait to participate in them! (*cough* Games Hunt *cough* :))
huge congrats! this day is very well deserved, enjoy it :)
you started it all.
Hello home screen!.... super pumped! Well done team!
your feedback has helped so much already. Keep sending me feedback. I'll keep making fixes : )
haha that was the first thing I did too (=
No cat GIFs. ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
noted. I will hide one in the next build.
:-) Of course, I kid I kid. Excellent stuff all around.
I may not be kidding.
Congrats team! Have loved testing the beta...
Ryan is an animal. It's been so fun to work with him and the team.
It's great! I'd love to see two things though: 1`. Ability to show ONLY iOS apps and have links open directly to StoreKit so that I can just install tons of apps. 2. The comments and web view should be conflated. All too often I want to check out the product before I see the comments – but if you default to website you might not get as much community interaction as you want. So what if you made the comments and other details a drawer that can be opened or closed. Here's a mockup:
this is great feedback. Love your ideas around storekit, and I am going to dig into that soon. Also, nice mockup! I can see what you're thinking. We should powwow with hoover about this some more.
I'm down. Product is my thing and Product Hunt is my jam. Let's get and coffee it up soon.
would love that. We just need to fly over from Australia. Seriously, let me know when you're free. We can afford the ticket, now. :)
I wrote this comment from within the app:) Very impressed with the progress of the Product Hunt products, business and community. Super!
I am glad to know that worked!
But I don't see your threaded comment from the app :(
Threaded comments aren't in this version, but they are in the next version, which is actually waiting for review by Apple now.
Awesome job guys! The pull-to-refresh animation is AWESOME. I wish you could swipe back to get to the list and upvote comments, though.
ok. great feedback. I can add that : )
This has been so much fun to work on with the team. So excited about Product Hunt and all the things to come.
And it has been great to beta test the app for the last few weeks! Happy this day is finally here and we get to show this to everyone :)
What font is it ? Love it!
Proxima Nova, just like the web version. It's great.
congrats! Incredible first iteration, and the story behind it is the epitome of ProductHunt!
You guys should implement App Links into the app/website/emails. It would be really awesome to not have to go find the conversation in the app when you see a notification in your email! (Mailbox supports them)
excellent idea. +1
Yeah, that'd be great. Also, the upvotes section is not so great — you can't tap on anyone's profile nor can you swipe through all the upvotes. Is that coming? :)
unfortunately gmail on iOS strips them. they even convert apple maps deep links to gmaps deep links. but they do win the "app constellation" award - open a youtube deep link via gmail, opens in yt app, with a back button that goes back to gmail.
that's fixed in the new version too. If you tap the upvotes section in new version it takes you to a new view where you can see all the avatars and usernames. And from there you can tap into any user profile.
I know, but Mailbox for iOS supports them!
Nice job with the animations! The P is everywhere!!!! 😄
ha. I had plans to change that up a bit, but never got there :)
Leave it in but do fun stuff with it. It adds to the character.
I was thinking each loading animation (P) would change for the different views. I'll get to it.
