The Resume Builder industry is broken. I'm trying to fix it.

Three months ago, I launched Private Resume Builder on Product Hunt with a simple premise: You shouldn't need a credit card to export a PDF.

I was tired of tools that let you spend hours crafting the perfect resume, only to hit you with a $15/month paywall at the download screen. I was tired of wondering where my personal data — my phone number, address, and employment history — was being stored (and sold).

So I built the anti-SaaS.

Private Resume Builder is a free, open-source web app that runs entirely in your browser.

  • 🚫 No Sign-ups: Start typing immediately.

  • 🔒 No Cloud: Your data is saved to your browser's Local Storage. I literally cannot see it.

  • ⚡ Offline First: It works without an internet connection.


    What's New in v2.0?

    Based on feedback from 200+ of you in the last launch, I realized that building the resume is only half the battle. The other half is getting past the robotic gatekeepers.

    Today, I’m introducing The Job Matcher.

    1. Paste the JD: Copy the job description you're applying for.
    2. Get Scored: The app analyzes your resume locally and gives you a Match Score.
    3. Find Missing Keywords: It instantly highlights the skills you forgot to list (e.g., "Agile", "Python", "Strategy") so you can add them before the recruiter's bot rejects you.

    For the Power Users:
    By popular request, I’ve added JSON Import/Export. Treat your career like code. Version control your resume in Git. Script your updates. You own your data in a raw, portable format.

    For the Designers:
    You are no longer stuck with default themes. I’ve added a Custom Color Picker so you can match your personal brand or the company's vibe perfectly.

    This project is built out of spite for bad software and a love for privacy. It will always be free. It will always be open source.
