One year in: 10 lessons from pivoting a company into a Chrome Extension ๐
One year ago, we launched Pretty Prompt here on Product Hunt without a strategy, a deck, or even a proper plan.
We were actually building something else at that time...
But within 7 days, we hit 4,000+ users.
Then came people trying to pay us.
Then came TikToks. Then we got rate-limited on Slack because of our analytics. ๐

So we pivoted. Fast forward a year:
40,000+ users
800,000+ prompts improved
130+ Chrome Web Store reviews โญ
160+ AppSumo reviews ๐ฎ
#2 Product of the Day (twice ๐)
More than anything, it taught us a lot about building, shipping, and listening to the market.
I wrote down a small article with 10 lessons from that journey.
1. If you feel pull, leave everything and follow it.
2. Build for yourself first.
3. Keep the fire on.
4. Build something small.
5. Keep the message simple, stupid.
6. Build where your users already work.
7. Take a trip with your co-founder.
8. Donโt build everything users ask for.
9. BIPITOW. (Building In Public Is The Only Way.) ๐ช
10. Personal emails beat mass outreach.
Bonus: Understanding your ICP is harder than building the product.
If youโre building (or thinking about pivoting), I hope it helps.
Still feels like weโre just getting started.
PH , thank you for your support over the last year! Onwards ๐
