How does this compare to Crystal? They have so many coming out right now, wondering which one is the best. http://www.producthunt.com/tech/...

@esbvn Just uploaded a quick non-scientific speed test and Peace seems to be the smartest solution: https://youtu.be/Ft1imEG9Moo?t=3...

@esbvn I would say it compares great to Crystal now: http://www.marco.org/2015/09/18/...

I haven't had a chance to use 'Peace' yet, but it’s powered by Ghostery, Ghostery is still owned by a company (Evidon) that collects and sells data to advertisers.

@brandonjgeo Albeit not in quite the same way as some of its peers - the developer of peace puts it as: "Ghostery’s business model is often misunderstood. The gist of it: their browser plugin has an opt-in feature, off by default, to send Ghostery anonymous data about which third-party scripts get loaded on the pages people visit. This helps them find new trackers to block, and they offer a business version of Ghostery that big sites use to figure out which trackers people see on their sites. Third-party ad networks and analytics are so common, and their standards for embedded ads are so unenforceable (since they’re letting third parties execute arbitrary code), that web publishers need someone else — Ghostery — to tell them what’s being served on their own sites and what problems it might be causing for their visitors or potential customers."

24 hours after it was released and becoming #1 paid app, Marco pulled it from the appstore: http://www.marco.org/2015/09/18/...

Marco: "Peace required that all ads be treated the same — all-or-nothing enforcement for decisions that aren’t black and white. This approach is too blunt, and Ghostery and I have both decided that it doesn’t serve our goals or beliefs well enough. If we’re going to effect positive change overall, a more nuanced, complex approach is required than what I can bring in a simple iOS app."

Anxiously awaiting the arrival of my iPhone 6S with its 64-bit processor so I can give this a go. I'm curious why Apple is limiting Content Blockers to newer devices. Whatever the case, the consistent quality of Marco's apps, along with Ghostery for the filters leads me to believe this is going to be a good solution. Hopefully publishers will figure out that loading up on trackers, ads and popup garbage isn't the way to monetize their content. Wondering how Google might respond to this in Android given their dependance on ad revenues in their other lines of business.

@jameskoole I think you just need iOS 9 for this to work.
James Koole
@jonmrich 5S or better. Still rocking an iPhone 5 until Friday.
Jonathan Richman
@jameskoole Ouch...my condolences. ; )

@jonmrich I'll survive...8 more days.

@jameskoole yep you just need iOS9 for this to work, I have iOS9 running on iPhone 4s

After installing I can't access to some websites for instance designmodo website doesn't open at all.
Jerome Dahdah
@edoam Two solutions: a) For a quick fix, long-tap the refresh icon, then select "Reload Without Content Blockers". b) For a more permanent solution, you can whitelist any websites that break within Peace's settings.

@edoam designmodo loaded fine with crystal

@conradd thanks man, will try it.

Wow. Just tested on iPhone 6 Plus. In my brief and informal test, this seriously speeds up browsing so much. Impressive.
Varun Goel
@alexputici upgrading to iOS 9.. this is the first app I'm going to download!
Alex Putici
@goelv good choice! Loving iOS 9
Ouriel Ohayon
does it block ads in apps too?
Varun Goel
@ourielohayon it should not block ads in apps..
eelco
@ourielohayon only if the apps have migrated to using SafariViewController.
Ouriel Ohayon
@eelcojellema correct. If using the old Web views blockers are inefficient.
Arush
Does this block non harmful tracking like Segment's analytics.js?
Sean Wiese
Not available to anyone more http://www.marco.org/2015/09/18/...
Ouriel Ohayon
Does it also block invisible email trackers? ( Eg yesware)
Pat DeSantis
Definitely noticed a speed boost on my 5S. Worth it!

Bought and installed. I'm a (recovering) tabaholic, and have always had serious performance issues on Chrome for iPhone and (especially) iPad. I've also been anti-Safari for a while, but the contrarian in me has been wanting to start using it, so Peace is a great excuse to start doing that. Sorry Google... Also, you gotta know that a Marco Arment app is going to be useful, after the original Instapaper and Overcast. Thanks Marco!

Marco pulling Peace feels like Linus Torvalds deleting the Linux kernel because he's worried a bunch of MCSE's might lose their jobs.
Ryan Johnson
Not available in Canada? :(
Conrad Barrett
@ryanjohnson_me It's been pulled from the app store. You can read more about Marco's decision -- www.marco.org/2015/09/18/just-do...

A few days later, it doesn't feel good anymore. Get your refund while you still can. http://www.marco.org/2015/09/18/...
