Hi everyone, first time sharing on PH!

I built Pattern.io because I'm a short-form creator myself. For a long time I struggled to grow my following and engagement - even though I was doing the weekly manual planning and content review like most small creators do.

What I realised was I was missing my own data. Yes the algorithm is unpredictable, but data doesn't lie!

A few months ago I built an early version of Pattern to analyse my own content. The tool was buggy - but the insight was real. It surfaced a new content pillar I didn't even know I had. I leaned into it and immediately got more engagement (grew over 100% followings within 3 weeks & 1.6M views).

That was the moment I knew I was onto something. What if a tool could understand who you are as a creator, your pillars and tone of voice, analyse your actual videos across visuals, audio, and scripts, and surface the blind spots you didn't even know existed?

Most AI tools (including ChatGPT and Claude) give generic feedback because it doesn't connect to your actual account and doesn't know how your content actually performs over time. Pattern.io starts there - it builds a deep understanding of your voice, your style, and your content pillars before giving you a single recommendation. A strategist that actually knows you.

I've been growing consistently since and would love your feedback. Pattern is currently focused on short-form creators - would love to hear from anyone building an audience on TikTok or Instagram :)

@withstephen As a fellow short-form creator, what's one blind spot Pattern surfaced for you that totally shifted your strategy?

Stephen Chan

@dayal_punjabi thanks Dayal! I think its definitely identifying your content pillars - a few of the videos did really well and its all around a specific content pillar that I missed, so Pattern identified that for me and suggested new content ideas around that topic, and have seen great growth!

@withstephen the missed-pillar story is the part that lands — being inside your own work and not seeing what's right there in your data is a hard kind of blind spot to fix. nice to see a tool aimed at it. congrats on shipping, stephen — what was the missed pillar that surfaced for you? feels like a story worth telling.

Gabe Moronta

@withstephen Very cool, identifying strategy and possible missed opportunities. All the platforms are constantly trying to one-up each other. As well, as constantly changing their algo to suit their needs, and its helpful to have insight into your own content. Good luck!

Davit Svanidze

Sounds like a nice product for creators. Is the input "only" videos or it can be also text input f.e. history of my tweets or LinkedIn posts and based on that tool generates a content strategy? Good luck today!

Stephen Chan

@davitausberlin thanks Davit - great question! The input currently take into accounts of video itself, captions and hashtags.

With your question - would you think it's useful for allowing you to input your history of your tweets & LinkedIn posts to generate a content strategy for insta and TT (as right now X and LinkedIn aren't supported just yet)

Davit Svanidze

@withstephen ah ok, its mostly for Insta and TT. Then the clear answer would be no :) I'm always watching things from my B2B lens, thus didn't think about TT and Insta.

Stephen Chan

@davitausberlin yeah that makes sense, we will eventually expand it into X & LinkedIn - for now, videos based social media will be the focus!

I can see you built this for yourself... because I can def feel the pain you are solving.
How does the pattern analysis work? Do you input a list of competitor or does it research for similar content from other accounts to get the insights?

Stephen Chan

@norteapp thanks Jose - I'm definitely the customer zero and have seen some good results coming from it!

The Pattern analysis mainly review two things before giving you tailored recommendations & new content ideas.

  1. when you first signed up, we analyse up to 200 historical videos per platform to understand who you're as a content creator (your content pillars, tone of voice and how you communicate)

  2. on the video itself, we analyse across 4 layers - visual (so individual frames, any change in background, any subtitles etc), audio (the pace, any background music), transcription itself (your scripts) and the performance data (likes, comment, saves, shares, follower conversions etc)

Based on this - we give you a tailored report every week on the actual video analysis, what you can improve, what's doing well and most importantly the new content ideas grounded in your data. so we'd suggest content ideas that are doing well so you can double down on, tweak some of your less performing videos aiming to improve the results etc.

In terms of the competitor analysis, you can now input a URL of a specific video from other creators, we'd analyse it for you and combine with your content profile (content pillars, tone of voice etc) to give you new content ideas, so you can capture all the good stuff. I'm still working on the actual competitor scraping - it'd list a list of competitors or inspiration accounts for your niche automatically too.

Jose Sanchez

@withstephen Nice job. Looks like you worked on this for a while. Congrats.

What are you struggling the most / want to see as a short form content creator?

Omar Saleh
Love this Most tools stop at surface level analytics, but going into visuals, audio, scripts is a different game. Are you extracting the raw video or just metadata?
Stephen Chan

@omar_saleh6 thanks Omar, exactly we're aiming to connect everything to ensure we're capturing everything! We're extract the raw video as well as the metadata!

Malith Gamage

Clean product!

@th_calafatidis Thanks Theodore!

Germán Merlo

Wow Stephen! Content creation is key for every founder and you're making it so performant and scalable. I'm sure many of us will take the most of it. Wish you all the best here

Stephen Chan

@german_merlo1 thanks so much German! definitely and thats a big reason I built the tool as I'm the customer zero!
