Past for iChat is a little application to open and view old chat log files created by Apple's iChat application an macOS Big Sur and later. iChat was the predecessor of the new and improved Messages.app in macOS 11, which (unfortunately) doesn’t support opening iChat files anymore.

Where can you find iChat files?

@james_afino The newest I have are from ~2012. The easiest way to locate them is searching them in Finder ("Kind", "Other", "ichat" or "chat"): https://zeezide.de/en/products/p... (the next update carries a menu item to trigger the Finder search)

Thank you thank you thank you!!! I was devastated to learn that Big Sur took away the ability not only to archive my messages, but to even view them! I've been archiving for 7 years and this allowed me to see my old messages. Thank you again for creating this tidy little piece of software.
