This sounds like a game changer for golfers! I love the idea of player matching based on preferences and availability. Quick question though: how does the matching algorithm work? Is it based solely on location or are there other factors that come into play, like skill levels or preferred times for playing? Also, can you share any user feedback or success stories so far? I think hearing about actual experiences could really help in understanding the app’s potential. Great job, @selvinortiz! Looking forward to trying it out once it ships!

@star_boat Great questions! The algorithm takes into account: age, gender, skill level, proximity, availability, preferences, and even equipment played. All of these have different weights and affect the outcome in different ways. For example, your location + plus how far you're willing to drive have an effect on the weight of the proximity on the overall score. The equipment has very little weight on the overall outcome.
Parchaser is in private beta right now but before I built it, I was testing things out manually. For example, in Minnesota, I heard from couches that a high percentage of their beginner students would stop taking lessons after the first couple of times, even after buying a 5 or 10 package lessons, and the main reason was not having people to play with. In 2023, we try to match beginner golfers with each other to get them out on the course and the results were drastic. A higher percentage of people kept their lessons and gave very positive feedback as to the effect it had being connected with other beginners and how excited they were to try things on the course.
I'm still trying to figure out the best features to lunch with but I know I'd use it myself, so hopefully others find it useful too.
Currently, I'm working on a module that will connect players to couches and allow local connection between them for lessons and fittings, all local too.
Loving the idea behind Parchaser, @selvinortiz! Finally, I can ditch those solo rounds and connect with fellow golf lovers. The player matching feature sounds like a game changer! Excited to see how this helps us level up our tee time game. 🏌️♂️
