congratulations on the launch of starsearch, james, desigan, gregor, and brian. i'm curious, how does starsearch handle the privacy of contributors while providing such detailed insights into their activities and contributions?

, today we only show handles. Personally identifiable information about their employer, location, etc., is not being embedded or recalled from our data. This means the experience is limited to data until we figure out how work with the highest standards of data protection.
This is incredible. We're going to find use for it every day as we study different OSS projects in the process of building our courses and writing out blog. Their history, key moments, contributors, and such!

Thanks! Large repos with complex histories are handled pretty well. We're focusing on contributors and contributions first, and will expand to other areas.

we currently do not look at anything besides the default branch today as well, do not look further back than 12 months. We will expand into further complexity once we get feedback from initial usage. Here is a technical article on how we approached building it.
