Hi Product Hunt!
I'm one of the makers and maintainers of Ollama, an open-source tool that makes it easy to get up and running with local large language models (LLMs) like Meta's Llama 2.
Local LLMs are a bunch of fun! They're private, free to use and most excitingly there's a growing number of fine-tuned models available to run for different use cases.
We're working hard to make Ollama easier to use in your workflow. LangChain recently added an Ollama integration, and we've designed Ollama with an easy to use API, making it easy to integrate into an existing app or build entirely new AI apps: https://github.com/jmorganca/oll....
Would love any feedback from you as we work on making Ollama better 😊.
@sentry_co it depends on which model you want to run, an 8GB macbook pro M1 would be able to run the 'default' 7B llama 2 model (albeit with swap)
16GB M1 Macbook is what I have, and I can run 13B models just fine.
70B models, we've had good success with 64GB mac studios.
Congratulations Team Ollama on your successful launch on Producthunt! That's such an exciting leap forward. The customizable aspect is a game changer. As a suggestion, maybe consider catching the gaming community's interest by integrating a feature that allows users to run game engine models. This could possibly add another dimension to your user base. Can't wait to see how Ollama evolves!
congrats on the launch!! love the branding / logo 😅 you rock!

Hey there, I'm one of the other maintainers for this project. It's been so much fun learning about the different ways to use Ollama. One of the many ways I have been getting into it is by creating characters.
We have a registry of models where soon folks will be able to bundle a model weights file with the parameters with the prompts and templates, all together. Then you can just run 'ollama run thenameofmyfriendsmodel'. Each of those pieces is like a layer in a docker file. If you already have the model weights, then no need to redownload that big file.
So once you have Ollama, then try 'ollama run m/princess_jasmine' or 'ollama run m/seraphina' or interact with one of the monsters from Quake with 'ollama run shambler'. Check out the other models I have been playing with under my namespace which is 'm' at https://ollama.ai/m. I look forward to running what you come up with when we open up the registry.
