Seasonal Planning for Ecommerce: How to Maximize Profit in Q3 and Q4
One thing I think ecommerce founders underestimate:
seasonal planning is not just about forecasting more sales.
It is about protecting profit before the rush starts.
Peak season can make a business look healthier than it really is because revenue and orders rise quickly.
But costs often rise at the same time:
ad spend,
discounts,
returns,
shipping complexity,
inventory pressure,
and cash tied up in stock.
That is why I like thinking about seasonal planning through a profit lens.
Not just:
what can we sell?
But:
which products are worth pushing?
how much discount can they survive?
what happens if CAC rises?
what happens if returns come in higher than expected?
what cash gets trapped if inventory does not move?
A busy season is good.
A profitable season is better.
