Ecommerce Profit Benchmarks 2026: How Does Your Store Compare?
by•
One thing I think ecommerce founders often need more of:
context.
A profit margin number by itself does not tell the full story.
A 12% net margin might be healthy for one category and weak for another.
A store doing $30K/month and a store doing $300K/month should not read their numbers the same way.
That’s why I like thinking about benchmarks as a map, not a scorecard.
They are not there to make founders feel behind.
They are there to show where the next improvement might come from:
COGS,
returns,
shipping,
AOV,
ad spend,
or product mix.
For Okiela, this is a big part of the mission.
Not just showing numbers.
Helping founders understand what those numbers actually mean, and what to fix first.
