Hi there! We’re Freek & Mattias, co-founders of Oh Dear. 👋 Eight years ago, we set out to build what we believe is the best all-in-one website monitoring service. Today, we’re expanding our scope with powerful new features: TCP service checks and server monitoring via PING. We tackled one of the hardest problems first - comprehensive website monitoring. That includes a crawler to detect broken links, SEO and accessibility checks powered by Lighthouse, scheduled task monitoring, and of course, advanced HTTPS uptime tracking and TLS certificate validation. Now, we’re going even deeper. You can directly monitor your core services like MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, SSH, and more with our new TCP checks. And for the fundamentals, monitor servers or network IPs via ICMP ping. You’ll get alerts the moment something’s down - or when latency or packet loss crosses your set thresholds. With this release, we’ve got almost the entire OSI model covered in terms of “outside-in” monitoring: from low-level server connectivity to your full application stack, we’ll notify the right people at the right time, as soon as trouble hits. Try it out - it takes less than 30 seconds to sign up (or 10 if you’re a keyboard ninja). No credit card needed. No strings. No awkward sales calls. Just your email and you’re in. If our product doesn’t impress you, that’s on us. We’d love to hear what you think - feedback of all kinds is welcome (yes, even the brutally honest stuff). Drop us a comment!

Guys, you nailed the naming of the tool. This is what creative marketing looks like :)

Nika

I think that I fell in love with your marketing team :D

Mattias Geniar

Haha thanks@busmark_w_nika ! 😁

We came up with the name while we were having a drink, we all ordered a beer called "Moeder Overste" (translates to "Mother Superior" of a monastery) and thought to ourselves: "What would she say if her website went down? Oh Dear!"

Nika

@mattiasgeniar I think I would working in this team LOL :D

Savvas Konsta

Very useful app. I was struggling with websites monitor al the time, will solve a lot of problems, congrats for the launch!

Mattias Geniar

Thanks @mrrabbar ! Happy to help out if you have any questions while using Oh Dear 🙏

Savvas Konsta

@mattiasgeniar All the best!

Colleagues, is it possible to monitor a project from different geo zones? In one location, the site may work, but not in another. We need to catch the moment when the site stops being accessible from the place we don’t know about. Our clients may be there...

Shawn Park

The all-in-one approach is brilliant. What makes it so great is the convenience.

Mattias Geniar

Thanks @shawn_park_f12 ! It's also what we missed during our development: there's a dozen tools out there that do the same thing, but the challenge is: it's a dozen different tools ...

Roman Pronskiy

Great product! Been using it for php.net – it's a pleasure to get the monthly uptime recaps:

Mattias Geniar

So cool to see@pronskiy , and those are some impressive uptime numbers!

Abdul Rehman

Do you support custom alerts for different teams? (e.g. dev gets Redis alerts, marketing gets SEO alerts)

Mattias Geniar

Hey @abod_rehman ! Yes, we've got a very flexible notification system, allowing you to pick & match exactly who gets which notification. With support for "only send during business hours" too, for those types of alerts that don't need an on-call team to be notified.

All the options (including tagging sites, adding wildcards to group those sites & then setting up notifications for only specific tags) can be found in our documentation: https://ohdear.app/docs/notifications/getting-started-with-notifications

Erol Azuz

Pretty strong tool for a decent price! The companies providing the essential tools for marketers and owners get my respect automatically. I loved the notification options includes everything. What's next? You will send a team member to my house to notify me? 😁

Mattias Geniar

Hey @erol_a , thanks for the kind words! We'll consider physical notification options for the future 😅

Shanea Leven

this is actually the best name! Very good job folks.

Thought of doing limited Lifetime deals?
Mattias Geniar

@proudwing We have, but it doesn't work in our sector: a lifetime deal still incurs daily (and even hourly) costs for us, as we don't stop checking the websites - it's a bit different for blogging platforms for instance, their "user load" isn't as constant. So unfortunately, no lifetime deals for Oh Dear :)
