octoscope 0.36.0 — the terminal has someone in it

🐙 octoscope 0.36.0 is out — and this time the terminal has someone in it.
On a busy account the first fetch takes a few seconds, and until now those seconds were a spinner and nothing else. Now every screen before the dashboard — loading, the sponsor splash, help, even a first-fetch error — opens with a small octopus and its periscope, drawn in the terminal's own block characters. While your data loads it looks around, turns its periscope, blinks and curls its tentacles.
Once the dashboard is up, a smaller one stays beside the banner (when the window has room) and wakes up on every refresh, yours or the automatic one.
💡 Tip: it wears your theme's colours. Switch themes in the settings panel (,) and the octopus changes with them; monochromatic themes and NO_COLOR get a one-colour silhouette.

The mini octopus in the stranger-things theme
🔁 Also in 0.36.0: pressing r now resets the automatic refresh — the next one counts from yours and inherits any rate-limit back-off yours ran into. And the supply-chain scan stops mixing branches: a trigger only counts where GitHub can actually start it, and only alongside secrets on the same branch.
🛠️ The detail I enjoyed getting right: it costs nothing. The octopus moves on the spinner's own ticks and stops when the spinner does, so it adds no delay at all — and the octopus on the website is the very same drawing, held to the Go source by a test.
📦 Upgrade:
brew upgrade gfazioli/tap/octoscopeDoes a little life on a loading screen make the wait feel shorter to you, or would you rather have just the spinner?
And what does your terminal show you while it waits? 👇
