Nyakaza - Move 10 min to unlock your apps

by•
Move 10 minutes before you doomscroll. Nyakaza locks the apps that eat your day until you've earned them. Save your time, your mornings and your data.

Hey Product Hunt šŸ‘‹ I got addicted to X. Not "scrolling a bit too much" addicted, my productivity dropped, kids started complaining about my phone addiction. My daughter telling me I was always on my phone was the part that actually landed. I also had a goal I kept not getting to: build a solo dev portfolio good enough to leave corporate. I had the time. I was spending it on the feed, the wrong feed. So I did the obvious things. Went off socials. Put the phone down around my kids. Started scheduling my days again. It worked, but only while I was actively fighting for it, and willpower did run out. so I built Nyakaza. I shared it with friends and family and everyone went on an on about their addiction and we stared comparing steps because of the app... as if we couldn't before. After building it, I realised that there were other similar apps but I was far in and people around me just wanted it now so I continued anyway. So you pick the apps that pull you in, and they stay locked until you've completed a 10 minute movement session. You cannot swipe it away, it locks the apps, using iOS Screen Time. Your phone counts the steps. Miss the session and they stay shut. Two problems, one mechanic: it buys back the hours, and it got my daily step count up, which was the other thing I kept meaning to fix. Built solo, this is my first iOS app, start to finish. What I'd love from you: → Does 10 minutes feel right, or too much? → Is "no override button" the thing you want, or the thing that'd make you delete it? → What would make you keep it past week two? Brutal feedback very welcome. That's the useful kind.
