Have we reached peak gamification in productivity tools?
Hi community!
I’m Renata, a developer and designer. Tomorrow, I am launching my first Chrome extension, Memento Focus.
Having used productivity tools since university and throughout my time in big tech and personal projects, I noticed a trend where these tools are designed like games, full of alerts, rings, and badges. For me, that just felt like extra digital noise. I wanted a quiet tool that doesn't compete for my attention.
So, I decided to build a quiet alternative. It features a vintage newspaper aesthetic, gentle bells, and redirects blocked websites to quotes from philosophers to help you pause and think. Most importantly, it operates fully offline with zero trackers.
I'm curious:
Do you prefer "gamified" productivity tools that push you with constant goals and notifications, or do you prefer "quiet/analog" tools that stay out of your way?
If you want to check it out, I’d love your feedback: https://www.producthunt.com/products/memento-focus?launch=memento-focus
