Memento Focus is an analog Pomodoro-style timer and website blocker that brings productivity and ancient wisdom into one quiet space. Moving away from loud, gamified extensions, it uses timeless Stoic philosophy to help you mindfully manage your time and focus. Completely free, ad-free, and operates fully offline to protect your privacy.

Hi everyone!
I am incredibly excited to share that my Chrome extension, Memento Focus, is officially live.
This project was born from the union of 3 things that help me personally with my productivity and focus, which I couldn't find combined in a single tool:
• Pomodoro Timers: I’ve used them since university and throughout my software engineering career. I wanted to build one with a simple timer, no gamification, no loud colors, and no anxiety-inducing alerts. Just pure function.
• Privacy-First Blockers: I wanted to stop mindless web browsing, but most blockers harvest your browsing data. I didn't want my history accessed by anyone, so I built this to stay 100% local on your device.
• Stoic Philosophy: I have always been inspired by people who did amazing things in life, big thinkers, and specifically, the Stoics. Instead of a punishing "access denied" error screen when you hit a blocked site, Memento Focus prompts you with a quote, making you pause, breathe, and think.
It is 100% free, private, and has no ads.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. What features would you like to see next? Or, if you have a favorite philosopher, let me know. I might add their quotes in the next update!

How does the website blocker actually work, do I need to whitelist every domain I want to keep using or does it just handle a default blocklist?

@lyas1059603 You are the one deciding which websites you want to block. By default, nothing is blocked.
There are 2 ways to block websites: blocked only during focus mode or always blocked. The second one can be useful if you want to do a type of detox from specific websites.

finally something that does not flash neon colors at me. the stoic quotes between sessions actually make me pause and reset instead of just brute forcing through work, which i did not expect from a timer

@minabehll3jm8 I'm very happy to hear that you like it, Mina! :) That was the idea behind the extension, to help us pause and reflect on how we want to use our time.
