Hey Product Hunt! I built Markhand because most digital signatures feel impersonal and rushed. This is a space to slow down, practice, and actually enjoy the process of making your mark. It’s fully client‑side, saves to your browser, and you can share your drawings with a simple URL. I’d love to hear what you think - drop a comment, suggest a feature, or share your best signature. Cheers!

Does exporting as SVG keep the bezier curves editable in apps like Illustrator, or does it flatten everything into paths?

Hey Nurten! Great question. The SVG export renders your strokes as path elements - each stroke becomes a separate path with its own stroke color and width. So when you open it in Illustrator, you’ll get fully editable vector paths, not a flattened image. They’re not native Bézier pen-tool curves since the strokes are freehand, but you can still tweak points, adjust styling, and use them like any other vector shape. Hope that helps!

The baseline guides are such a thoughtful touch for getting consistent spacing while practicing. And the no-signup, open-source approach is refreshing for something this polished.

Thank you, really appreciate that! The baseline guides were something I personally wanted - they make such a difference when you’re trying to keep everything aligned and consistent. And the open-source, no-signup approach is a core part of the project’s philosophy: just open the browser and start creating. Glad it resonates with you! Feel free to star the repo or suggest any ideas on GitHub or Email - always happy to hear feedback.

Would love to see an option to record a short video of the drawing process and export it as a GIF alongside the PNG. Would be a great way to share how a signature came together without needing a separate screen recorder.

That’s a really cool idea - having a built-in replay or GIF export of the drawing process would be super satisfying. It’s not available yet, but I’ve noted it down as a feature request. I can imagine a small “playback” button that animates the strokes in order and lets you export the sequence. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll definitely explore this for a future update!

The pen smoothing feels really natural for finger drawing, and the grid guide actually helped me nail consistent letter heights. Love that it exports clean SVGs straight from the browser.

Thank you! Really happy to hear the grid guide helped with lettering consistency - that's exactly what I had in mind when adding baseline and dot grid options. The pen smoothing is designed to be responsive with zero lag, even on touch, so I'm glad it feels natural for finger drawing. And yes, clean SVG export straight from the browser is a core part of the philosophy: no servers, no processing, just your strokes turned into vectors instantly. If you ever have feature ideas or want to share what you create, I'd love to see it - and a GitHub star always makes my day! 🙂🫧
