Hi, my story starts with the search for beautiful maps of our hometowns and other places we loved. Maps that looked really nice on a wall and represented our taste for design. There have been some services for choosing a certain map design and ordering prints online. But they were kind of expensive, forced me to order a print or even a framed print, and often the styles available were just a few and not really interesting or popping. Even the process of creating and ordering these maps was slow and unsatisfying. It all began when my sister told me she wanted to order a decorative map of our hometown after renovating. She was looking for content to put on her empty walls. After seeing the first map she ordered (a midsized print for 70 dollar), we were kinda disappointed. It looked so basic and boring. So I told her I will look for something better. After researching... Nothing I found matched our preferences. All we wanted was just a nice colored map of our hometown for download. In a decent resolution, so we could print it ourselves. Most of what we found were just all these monotonous, overpriced prints of the usual suspects like New York, Paris or Berlin. That's when I thought, maybe at least I could try to create a nice map myself. With the help of Google Maps, I got a bunch of screenshots, stitched them together in photoshop, gave it some nice colors and tried to scale up the resolution for a nice print. It was harder than it sounds, and took me a couple of hours. But then ordered 10! large size Poster prints for only about 20 dollars all together, at an online print shop. And they looked amaaaazing. We loved them. Even the paper quality was way better than the expensive print my sister ordered. Suddenly, more and more family members and friends wanted me to stitch together some nice maps for them... until it started to become kind of a full-time job :) I thought about how to automate this whole process. So I started to learn some coding and with a lot of research and some help of the newest coding tools, I build a first iteration. Clunky and not perfect at all. But now I am in Beta 2.0 you could say... still trying to fix some issues and add some more convenience. But I am happy with the result so far. It does what I wished for myself, my family and friends. Hardest thing will be to make it "what you see is what you get". For right now, you need to use the "preview" button to see the exact end result of the map and the map size. But I am working on it. I know it's not perfect yet, but I'd love if you visited maplooove.com and tried it out. I thought about fair pricing and I think its good. Maps starting at 3 dollars and don't go much much higher. You get a nice high or decent resolution map for printing wherever you like. For much cheaper all together than usual.
