Lums AI: The Accounting Engine - Your budget, mathematically guaranteed to be correct.
by•
Ever had a transfer between accounts count as "spending" twice? Most apps fail there, losing history after 90 days and leaving you with budget estimates that don't add up. Lums changes that. We’ve added a real Accounting Engine that automatically ensures transfers are verified, your complete history is stored forever, and our AI answers your questions using 100% verified facts instead of messy guesses.

Hello PH!
Building this was one of the most important decisions we made as a team.
The double-counting problem isn't cosmetic. It corrupts every number downstream, including what our AI tells you. We could have patched it. Instead we built a real double-entry accounting engine from the ground up.
Same standard banks use.
If you're going to trust an app with your finances, the math has to be airtight.
That's what this is. Congrats to the whole team on shipping it. 🚀

Hey community!
I’m the CPO at Lums, and I’m excited to share what we’ve been building: The Accounting Engine for personal finance.
Most budgeting apps are built around tracking and categorization. Useful, but often brittle. We wanted to go deeper and build personal finance on top of real accounting principles, specifically double-entry bookkeeping, so your money system stays consistent, auditable, and always adds up.
With Lums, you can chat with your finances, create a budget in minutes, auto-categorize transactions, manage multi-currency accounts, and understand where your money is going without wrestling with spreadsheets.
Our goal is simple: bring the rigor of accounting to everyday personal finance, without making it feel like accounting software.
I’d love your feedback, especially from anyone who has struggled with budgeting tools, spreadsheets, or keeping their financial picture organized across accounts and currencies.
Happy to answer questions throughout the day!
