An effective way to have always all the key elements under control, being able to adapt dynamically to what you learn while running your business.
Pros:Great tool to go quickly from planning to executing your project.
Cons:The order of the elements makes perfectly sense, but it requires some explanation in order to be understood.
Once we have an idea, we're all looking for just enough structure to communicate our idea and move into experimentation. The Lean Canvas has just the right touch.
Pros:The Lean Canvas forces the right amount of thought to drive what's next.
Cons:Assumes you have a solution in hand, so it's not intended as an ideation tool.
It is excellent. I have used it myself and coaches others through it to evaluate if more resources should be spent. It is an excellent tool to help you say yes or more importantly no to certain ideas.
Pros:Simple yet effective. Easy to apply as a light filter yet robust to plan and confirm in more sophisticated ways.
Cons:How to take it further. In what ways can it be expanded into next phase of planning and execution.
The canvas is the first step of an entire "evidence based entrepreneurism" approach to building a successful sustainable business. To really get the most value out of it you should expect to use the completed canvas as a starting point to be rest of the business model validation process.
Pros:Both intuative to employ and based upon my experience with other modelling canvases, better suited to the realities of first time businesses
Cons:Requires a bit more effort on the part of the person that employs the tool than they might expect.
