New: Layercode CLI, bring your own keys, product and pricing updates

by

We just shipped several big and small updates:

Get started faster from the CLI ⚡

We’ve made it much easier to create a voice AI agent straight from the command line. Just run:

npx /cli init

To scaffold a new project and get a local voice agent running in a few minutes.

Bring your own keys for ElevenLabs & Cartesia 🔑

We want to make it as easy as possible to build production-ready voice agents that balance value and performance, and we know that many production agents need to run concurrently.

Cartesia and ElevenLabs, however, have auto-scaling concurrency limits. To continue offering both providers without limitations, we’re moving Cartesia and ElevenLabs to a ’Bring Your Own Keys’ model.

You can now add your own API keys in the Dashboard.

Note: Starting Monday 29th, any agents using Cartesia or ElevenLabs without keys will be automatically switched to Rime to ensure continuity.

Pricing Updates 💰

$100 free credits: All new users now receive $100 free credits to get started building with Layercode. If you already signed up and claimed $25 free credits, reply below and we will top you up!

Layercode Pro: We’re introducing a $250/month pro subscription with more concurrency, extended session recording and retention, dedicated support, and more. Ideal Ideal for teams building production voice AI.

All-new voice picker 📣

We’ve completely overhauled the voice picker UI with search, filters and voice previews for voices from Rime, ElevenLabs and Cartesia.

Small, but important things

  • The latest JS SDK fixes audio device selection in Firefox and emits user.transcript and client events so you can show the user transcript as they speak.

  • Telephony & Call Handling: New /v1/agents/{agent_id}/calls/initiate_outbound endpoint to launch outbound Twilio calls from your agent

  • SOC 2 Compliance: We’ve started work on making Layercode SOC 2 compliant. If this matters to you, please send us a note at for more information.

More soon! Let us know any questions, ideas or general feedback!
