KanBanPRO — Finish Every Task. - Painless Project Management - Work the way you want to Work!

by
I run a small business that does consulting and builds security software. I wanted project-task management to be simple, fast, and useful, not another RTFM moment. It started as a Kanban board. Then I realized I wanted to view the same project differently depending on the moment. And I wanted professional looking reports. Now I can switch between a Kanban board, Gantt chart, priority matrix, or task list whenever I need to, and impress people too! I think it's amazing, and hope you do too.

I was frustrated at the software out there. I mean if I had a spare week (who does now a days), hours to read a manual or watch youtube videos or, frankly, was an expert in project management I could probably get the packages out there to do whatever I need. But I have customers that want stuff NOW. More importantly, they want to know where the stuff they asked about is in queue as they give you more stuff to do. Project management is not a destination for me, and it's not where I want to be -- at best it's a necessary evil and with that in mind, I spent some time here and there writing what started as a KanBan board and then became more. After all, me and my old boss used to call the KanBan Board folks, Can't Plan. It occured to me that project can be run in "do-able" spurts of bits and pieces, or in priority order, or as a long list you make it through or as the more traditional time based GANNT chart. Then it occured to me why not just take my tasks and let me look through whichever lens works right for me at the right time. Personally I also wanted to be able to re-baseline a GANNT chart without it going to pieces, but that was just a small personal goal. I shared it with a friend who was doing an international move and bolted on an AI to help you create project plans, another friend is running a project, on paper and I gave him a copy to help him get through it. I've used a lot of project planning tools over the years -- I should say I was subjected to them -- and never really saw them pan out. This works for me -- and I hope it works for you too (or even better, tell me what doesn't work for you and let's fix it!)

Love the multi-view approach, switching between Kanban and Gantt mid-project is genuinely useful. One thing I'd suggest: add a simple recurring task option. Lots of small businesses have weekly client check-ins or monthly reporting tasks that shouldn't need to be manually re-created every time. Would round out the workflow nicely.

Thank you for taking the time to review my software and to offer great advice. I have gone ahead and implemented this feature! I would also like to note that the free 6 month coupon for Product Hunt users was not properly implemented, it is now if you or anyone would like to take advantage of it.

Loved being able to flip between the Kanban board and Gantt view without losing my place. Reports came out looking surprisingly polished for something I just dragged tasks into.

I appreciate your comments, I actually have added flipping to ADDITIONAL reports without losing your place as I do think you hit the nail on the head, it annoyed me when I had to reselect the right project every time I moved around so I made it sticky. I would also like to note that the free 6 month coupon for Product Hunt users was not properly implemented, it is now if you or anyone would like to take advantage of it.

Two of my favorite reports are the "where does your project dollar go":

ANd a pacing report (granted its only across two days), this is a really easy way to see the project over and under:

Looks like a really thoughtful tool, especially the switch between kanban, gantt, and priority matrix. One thing that would help me a lot is letting me share a read only view of a project with a client through a simple link, with no login required. Would make client updates way smoother.

What a great idea! And I took it to heart! Thank you for taking the time and the great feedback. I would also like to note that the free 6 month coupon for Product Hunt users was not properly implemented, it is now if you or anyone would like to take advantage of it.

This has a lot of promise — congrats on bringing KanBanPRO — Finish Every Task. into the world! 🚀
