Hello from Physicist and Philosopher that somehow became a founder
by•
Hello everyone,
I recently found out about ProductHunt and the opportunities on this platform. My name is Seán and I recently founded Ontoworks with my beautiful team. Originally I wanted to become an academic and do a PhD in the philosophy of physics, but circumstances made me want to try and become an entrepreneur. First we developed an gen-AI music video generator, which worked well, but did not have the right market. Now we are launching OntoVision, which automates the assembly of video footage by auto-creating rough cuts based on your storyline. It was TV broadcasters and production companies that approached us with their needs and pains that lead us to our solution.

Welcome to PH, Sean! Sounds like OntoVision solves a very real problem - have you already launched?
Welcome, Seán!
The detail that stood out, it was TV broadcasters and production companies who came to you with the pain, not you chasing the market.
We had almost the same realization on our side (in adtech), we assumed the hard part was finding demand, but it turned out demand was already there. the hard part was everything that happened after someone said "I want this." Auto-creating rough cuts from a storyline is a great wedge. Curious how raw the "rough cut" can be before an editor still has to step in. Is the goal to replace the first pass entirely, or to get editors to 80% faster?
welcome Seán! physicist and philosopher to founder is one of the more interesting career pivots I've seen on here. love that it was the broadcasters and production companies who came to you with the problem instead of you guessing what to build. that's always a better starting point. excited to see the OntoVision launch. would love to connect 👋
