It's rare for me nowadays to open a product and 'get it' and see the possibilities. Too much cynicism. But Periscope is awesome. Not because it's perfect, but because it telegraphs where it's going with this first version - the best products have that air of inevitable obviousness to them. Good luck guys!
I'm curious about what influence Twitter had on Periscope's design and polish. Like Vine, it has a very "Twitter" feel. I wonder what the app looked like before the Twitter acquisition.
@adamokane The app looked identical to how it looks today. We're totally independent from Twitter from a Design/Eng standpoint (and also from a physical standpoint in that we have our own office). With that autonomy though, comes the *benefit* of tapping Twitter's wisdom in basically any area that may be helpful (such as scaling Content Moderation, and Infrastructure scaling advice!)
@kayvz Got it. Good deal. I think it was the Periscope profile screen that made me wonder - the simple following and follower counts, short bio, etc. reminded me of Twitter.
looks well executed. one big difference: you can stream landscape videos.

Seem to have at least doubled their users already this AM. As of 8am EST @kayvz had 8k followers—now sitting over 17k. I'm sure they collected well over 250,000 emails from their beta signup form... this launch could be record-breaking.
