I used to test software for work. It was ok. I went to Engineering School, entered the job market and found the software tools seriously lacking. Entering the same data multiple times, across multiple applications, clunky interfaces, licensing issues, etc. But the worst part was the lack of transparency. We were demonstrating compliance with Federal and State regulations, designed to protect the public, but the formulas were hidden behind proprietary software - the public and even the engineers using the software didn't know what was under the hood.
