Hatano - The app blocker you can't outsmart, only outwalk

by
Most blockers ask for willpower: timers, delays, guilt. Hatano asks for movement. Pick the apps that steal your time; they stay locked at the system level until you hit your daily step or workout goal, verified by Apple Health. The shield re-arms every midnight. Real emergency? Beat a 30-second challenge for a 5-minute pass, twice a day max. Streaks, widgets, 14 languages, and health data that never leaves your device. You don't fight temptation. You outwalk it.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋

I built Hatano because of an embarrassing math problem: my screen time said 4 hours of social media a day, and my step counter said 3,000. I tried every blocker out there. The problem is they all negotiate: wait 10 seconds, breathe, are you sure? I always was.

So I made the terms non-negotiable and physical. Your distracting apps stay locked at the system level until your body has moved. Hit your daily step goal or log any workout (verified by Apple Health, so there is nothing to fake) and everything unlocks for the rest of the day. At midnight, the shield comes back.

The name honors Dr. Yoshiro Hatano, the Japanese researcher who created the 10,000-step goal back in the 1960s.

A few honest details:
• There is an escape hatch for real life: beat a 30-second challenge for a 5-minute pass, twice a day max. Strict enough to matter, human enough to keep you from deleting the app.
• Your health data never leaves your device. No accounts, no tracking.
• It speaks 14 languages as of last week.

I use it every day and my streak is the only reason I saw sunlight this week. I would love your feedback: what would make you actually keep a blocker like this installed?
