Grid.studio (beta) - Build progressive websites with simple drag'n'drop πŸš€

Website builder reimagined from the ground up! Develop and design at the same time, while adding content by simply dragging in your files. Kind of like a hybrid of Webflow, Squarespace and Google Docs.

this seems like a straight up ripoff of Universe, down to the tagline

@john_c_palmer Hi John. Someone else mentioned this on Twitter as well. Have you tried the tool yet? πŸ˜‰ Both solutions seems to be grid-based, but that's pretty much the only thing they have in common.

That’s is what I am after! Excellent

Where are the docs?
Stefan Rasmussen
@rob_how_likely Hi Robert, this is SaaS so you don't have to worry about docs! ;)

Hey guys, will you be adding a way to export code to this? That's a big advantage of Webflow at the moment (and they recently added CSS grid, making their builder similar to yours). I understand Grid Studio build PWA, not static sites (pretty cool!) but still, for someone who wants a static site but like the ease of use of your product, the price is prohibitive.
Stefan Rasmussen
@anna_0x Hi Anna, thanks for your feedback (also during the beta)! As mentioned in the reply to @ben_picard you'll have to compare to Webflow's 'Business Hosting'. We might offer a 'light' version later, and expect to offer export for our pro-version. Considering you get premium hosting and a built-in crossplatform app we think it's quite fair - but for small static sites you're currently right.
Anna Filou
@ben_picard @okydk yes of course, I'm only referring to those times when someone does not need premium hosting, small projects :) in Webflow, you can design the site for free for as long as you want, and then subscribe for one month in order be able to export the code. So for 20 Euro you can take your time to design the site, and only pay once you wanna export.
Stefan Rasmussen
@ben_picard @anna_0x I totally agree. 20€ for a quick export makes sense, for small static sites. But hosting dynamic PWAs sets certain requirements for the server, so it's simply to ensure the best performance and delivery that we do not offer export yet. Furthermore all images are tailored to the individual devices, meaning we would have to generate infinite images or decide on generic sizes resulting in overhead. Would love your input for the upcoming pro-version, as I think it will be a better fit for you. 😊
Anna Filou
@ben_picard @okydk Yes, I understand, in that case your pricing makes sense, again, I'm only talking about those small projects! :D

Any plans to expand the functionality for multiple pages or to allow different tabs?
Stefan Rasmussen
@sejaldsouza Hi Sejal, you can already create multiple pages! :) Give it a spin, and let me know if you have any other questions.
Dr. Davia Coutcher
I’m trying to figure it out
Stefan Rasmussen
@dr_davia_coutcher Cool, let me know if you need help πŸ˜„

Very nice. I am impressed it works on ipad! what are the plans for dynamic CMS, ecommerce, user login type stuff? Thanks
Stefan Rasmussen
@hamaclean iPad support is still experimental πŸ˜„ but thanks! The plan is to connect with various sources such as Google Sheets, Airtable and Stripe, to simply pull your existing data and show it to the world. Kind of like a public view-layer of your business. πŸ˜‰

@hamaclean @okydk Might want to check https://www.glideapps.com/ for the Google Sheet import -> mobile app, to research what they did well.

@okydk Hey Stefan, nice product you've got. One question, do you have some kind of API in which one could build own components for the editor? I also wrote to your support chat :)
Stefan Rasmussen
@pelaseyed Hi Ismail :) Thanks! Yes, custom blocks are launching very soon! Send me an email at stefan@grid.studio if you would like beta-access. ;)

@grid @okydk Done :)
