Hangouts Chat is an intelligent and secure communications tool, built for teams. From direct messages to group conversations, Chat makes team communication easy and efficient. Rolling out for all G Suite customers over the next week.
What about threads?!
That's the most painful point of Slack, that's why our team uses Flowdock, threads inside Flowdock are just amazing, discussions are easy to maintain and don't go south when you discuss multiple features and work remotely...
@happyinwater Okay I've tried it out..but the thread system is sorry...useless. I'll explain to you why: I have started a discussion yesterday and today the room was filled with other discussions when you reply to the discussion you started yesterday there is no way for others to see that you replied only if they scroll, the message doesn't show up in the chat fold!
That's very bad design! You are not able to follow any discussion you can't see the replies so the threads are useless!
You can do better than that!

With Slack prepping a new Android app, Flock raising $3.5 million and everyone else trying to compete in between, this is going to be extremely fun! Looking forward to trying this app by Google one day! :D
Slack is a step ahead of Google Chat:
- External channels
- Bots
- Personalised notifications for channels

After EAP, I am still very excited for this new Google Cloud product! Hangouts Chat will open up group messaging to a much wider range of organizations than before. (There are so many orgs that DO have & love G Suite, but don't use Slack on an org-wide scale. Yes, I know that's hard to believe for the people in this community. ;)
While during the EAP it was obvious why you couldn't connect to users from other G Suite domains, sadly that's still not possible. The integration with 'classic' Hangouts could be better too: Group-messages should sync as well, like the 'private' messages.
Pros:
Well integrated with G Suite, and a free addition; Very extendable
Cons:
Only intra-domain communications, "Not good enough" (yet?) to convince Slack users

Yes!!! Been waiting for these one. Im a daily active user for @Slack but Google lover and user.
I'll use it for shure!
@benln Me too, but it won't seem to let me login. I have two different paid G Suite account for two different organizations. Neither of them will let me login to the new app. I can't login on mobile nor can I login on the desktop app. The desktop app just flashes momentarily and returns me to the Choose an account login page. The mobile app at least gives a message stating I need to talk to my admin. I am the admin and I can't find any info on it not being enabled or how to enable it. So far, they're not off to a great start, in my opinion.
@benln@wkeving Rolling out over this week, so give it a few days to get to your domain...

@happyinwater Thanks. I actually received the official email about it this morning that included that piece of info.

Pros: Seamless access with the 10 other Gsuite tools my team uses.
Cons: Google is eating the World.

Google should hire someone for their app naming. Why not name this hangouts for business rather than hangouts chat. Hangouts itself is known as messaging app. Why add chat to it
Anyways looks good and better ui for sure
