Interesting choice to name it after one of their defunct products: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go...

This gives me Yammer vibes

Didn't see this one coming, but maybe this will succeed where Google+ couldn't. Smart move from Google creating a more niche product off the remains of Google+

"Currents" is not a good name for this product

I'm all for any platform that goes up against Farcebook. Hoping Currents turns tidal. 👍

This product seems to be very interesting and has some promising features. But I don't think that 'Currents' is suitable for it.

Who trusts Google will sustain this?

Saw that coming. It makes so much sense when you realize Office 365 has Yammer and Zoho has Connect. G Suite is becoming more appealing to large companies that need this. Next step: Google Projects. Something like Asana would be cool. I've tried Kanbanchi on the G Suite marketplace but it's not as great as I expected.

How is this better than Workplace? We have been on workplace since its inception and people find it to be very good. However, WP has the same problem that FB has - separate app for messaging (although i hear FB is going to merge Messaging into FB adn WP soon). We also run on Gsuite; so it would be nice to move everything into one service. Our admins tried to get on Currents; but it was not immediately obvious how to enable it ; or if it is indeed in GA..
