GitHub Copilot Workspace - Copilot-native dev environment, designed for everyday tasks

byβ€’
Within Copilot Workspace, developers can brainstorm, plan, build, test, and run code in natural language. This new task-centric experience leverages different Copilot-powered agents from start to finish, while giving developers full control over the process.

This looks like fierce competition for Devin by Cognition, especially considering the huge distribution GitHub already has. Wow β€” the future of engineering looks very exciting and productive!
Who's the target user for this, I wonder? Product Managers? Junior devs? The planning thing looks cool.

@jgani I'd say developers in general, not just juniors. I've been a software dev for 20 years, and I'd still use it. Just because I can write the code, doesn't mean I wouldn't use a tool that can help me do it faster.
@marian2js Fair. I'm the same as you. 20+ years experience, and use AI to make me go faster. It's there to be used, why not :)

@r_martirosyan Congrats on the launch!

Just upvoted! this sounds like a game-changer for coding workflows. Anything that lets you plan and code in a more conversational way should take some of the grunt work off a developer's plate. I'm a bit curious about how flexible it is, though. Is it easy to switch gears if you're midway through a project and the specs change? Cool to hear it gives full control to the developers. Really keen on seeing how different Copilot-powered agents handle various tasks. Could this become the new norm for development teams? How's the learning curve on this one?

insane!

Amazing! This looks like it could be invaluable to Product Managers. Have you designed it to be accessible to non developers? What do you think @coagmano ?

The demo video is so good right>?

Congrats on the launch! ’m curious about how the workspace integrates with existing tools and workflows. Is it flexible enough to adapt to different development styles?

I love Github copilot chat. But Im not sure I'm going to use this. The planing part is just so non-generic that I don't think current LLMs will help. Maybe for some simple stuff, but if it's simple, then it's easy to plan. Or I might just not see the benefit of it yet. πŸ˜…
