GitHub - See and mark up the images you paste into Claude Code

In Claude Code a pasted screenshot is just [Image #1]. paste-preview shows every paste as a thumbnail and opens an editor the moment you paste, so you can circle what matters before Claude sees it. Free and open source, on macOS, Linux and Windows.

In Claude Code a pasted screenshot shows up as [Image #1]. After a few pastes I could no longer tell which was which, or show Claude the part I meant. paste-preview is a Claude Code mod (mods are early access, Claude Code 2.1.291+): - every [Image #N] shows as a thumbnail above the prompt, and sent messages keep theirs in the transcript (needs a terminal with the kitty graphics protocol, such as Ghostty or kitty) - an editor opens the moment you paste: pen, ellipse, box, arrow, text, crop, rotate - at Enter the original image is left out of the message and Claude reads the marked-up file instead On macOS the editor is a native floating panel kept warm in the background, so it appears the instant you paste, even over a full-screen terminal. On Linux and Windows it opens as a browser app window. Install from the prompt: /plugin install paste-preview --marketplace alan890104/claude-code-paste-preview MIT. I'd like to hear what breaks, especially on Linux and Windows.
