Would a simple daily “I’m fine” signal for aging parents actually solve a real problem?
If your parents live far from you (different city or country), you probably know that low-grade worry of “are they okay today?” — not enough to call every day, but enough to sit in the back of your mind.
Idea: parent gets a daily prompt, taps one button (“I’m fine”) or sends a quick voice note. You get notified instantly, and only get an alert if they don’t respond, so you know something might be off.
The idea is to keep it dead simple (no typing, no menus) since that’s usually the biggest barrier for elderly parents and tech.
I’m not building this yet. I’m trying to understand whether this actually solves a real problem or whether people already have it figured out.
Honest questions:
Do you already have something for this (a call schedule, another app)? What works for you?
Would this actually reduce your worry, or does it feel unnecessary?
What would stop your parents from using something like this daily?
If this is a problem you’ve experienced, I’d really appreciate honest feedback, especially if you think this already exists or there’s a better way people currently handle it.
