Where did you get the confidence to charge your very first customer?

by•

Everyone tells you to start with a free plan or heavy discounts to get users in the door, but most free users just complain and never upgrade.

My first paid conversion happened when I completely removed the free tier and forced myself to sell the value directly in 1-on-1 calls.

Did you start with a free plan that eventually converted, or did you charge from day one?

Hi there, Deborah!

I charged from day one.

I had the training behind me and had done a little voluntary copywriting work as a way into paid, in-house employment.

Before going down the freelance route, I'd worked in two different digital marketing agencies. I'd built up 5 to 6 years of experience and written for different clients in different niches.

So, with the training and experience behind me, I charged from day one when I went freelance.
