When should a B2B SaaS move beyond founder-led outbound?
We’ve been thinking about a problem that probably hits a lot of early B2B SaaS teams.
Outbound is useful early because you control who you speak with and learn quickly from objections.
But it also creates a dependency: stop reaching out, and the pipeline can slow down.
We’re now comparing that with partnerships and referrals.
The trade-off I see:
Outbound gives faster feedback and more control.
Partnerships can create warmer introductions, but getting someone to agree to partner is very different from getting them to actively refer customers.
So the question we’re working through is:
At what point did you know your direct sales motion was mature enough to start investing seriously in another acquisition channel?
And what did you add first: partnerships, referrals, content, or something else?
