What is the most unusual use of artificial intelligence you have seen?

Besides generating text, images and videos for you in a few seconds/minutes, AI can certainly do other things.

What unusual uses of AI have you seen?

Perhaps mutual previews can encourage makers on this platform to be more creative. πŸ™‚

For me, it was the fact that MIT, Carnegie Mellon, and other institutions have shown it’s possible to "see through walls" using Wi-Fi, detecting breathing patterns or even posture using AI + Wi-Fi.

@thefullstackΒ I saw how one guy is using it for detecting toddlers' language. I think that understanding the animals and plants is another stage.

AI boyfriends or AI girlfriends.

It is a thin line people.

And disclaimer => Im not judging it.

I just think, there is always at least one human out there who will like you. You dont need a PC to feel companionship.

Nika

@cryptosymposiumΒ It has to be a really sad life when one befriends AI more than people. πŸ₯²

@busmark_w_nika i know right. i dont want to put labels on it. but it is a sad fact. Not judging anyone who does, just saying it is sad to see that in this world people feel closer to an ai than to a human.
Tasos V
@terabitcoins wow! that is another level. i mean the marriage part the ai pets, has some fun part into it πŸ˜…

@cryptosymposiumΒ This raises serious concerns of power when considering how the person who built the model (or even the AI itself) could encourage individuals to think/act a certain way with the sway of emotional attachments...

Tasos V
@scott_spanier well, that, or the other weak. how weak/unstable the psychological condition is of our society down to an individual level, for looking for emotional understanding to machines. that by default lack the emotional part from a pure science perspective !
Nika

@scott_spanierΒ  @cryptosymposiumΒ In general, people have a hard time communicating with people because people are more likely to harm you and confront you. AI is more submissive and open to your thoughts, whatever it takes. So, where do you feel safer and secure? In the environment that confronts you or the warm environment (tho it is AI) – and the thing is, that thanks to AI, you can "grow/progress" even without confrontation, because AI knows more than the average human.

Seeing through walls is really incredible, great find!

Some examples how AI is used to solve difficult engineering and science problems:

@konrad_sxΒ Cancer research would be one of the TOP, if things go well.

@busmark_w_nikaΒ Yes, definitely, and curing currently incurable diseases in general.

AI has been used in many ways to benefit military operations against russia during the war in Ukraine. AI-powered systems help analyze satellite imaginary, drones activity, etc. It’s probably also used for some predictive analysis but I have never researched the topic. I often admire how the same technology is used both for things I mentioned and helping kids with homework.
Nika

@angelinashvΒ I also heard something in the sense that they use AI for drones and even have an upper hand in this field in the military (even the US started being interested in their solutions).

Siddharth Pereira
There’s a guy in India using to AI to analyze voice patterns to understand how his infant baby communicates with his dog. Completely private usage product that google noticed and is eyeing now.
Nika

@siddharthpereiraΒ Is any article about him on the internet?

Siddharth Pereira

@busmark_w_nikaΒ Didn't find everything. But this is the starting point.

Big conversation on reddit.

Nika

@siddharthpereiraΒ This is crazy. 5 different patterns of crying translated into the normal language. Pretty neat. Imagine using it towards animals as well.

Genome sequencing and drug predicting are huge. Same goes for identifying objects in space (18 year old used AI to identify 1.5 million previously unknown objects). Anywhere you have large quantities of data really...

Nika

@scott_spanierΒ If you have any interesting article / source, I would like to dive in :)

sietse schelpe

to short i have seen , llm beeing used for all wrong things . so could you make the question more clear?

Nika

@sietse_schelpeΒ Let me rephrase – have you seen AI used in a way that improved the lives of others, and was it an unusual use case that you haven't seen before/isn't that common?

Yunxi Chang

One of the most unusual uses of AI I've come across is its application in "seeing through walls." Researchers from MIT, Carnegie Mellon, and other institutions have harnessed the power of AI combined with Wi - Fi signals. This technology can detect breathing patterns and even a person's posture behind a wall. It works by analyzing the way Wi - Fi waves are reflected and refracted when they encounter different objects, like a human body. The AI algorithms then process this data to create an image or provide information about the person's movements and position. It's truly remarkable as it blurs the line between the physical and digital worlds in a way that was previously unimaginable, with potential applications in areas such as search - and - rescue operations and home security.

Idk if it's a negative use of AI or not, but in my region this new website called Eubrics is rising up. Honestly I rarely trust any product providers claiming AI as their best creation. But again, that doesn't change the fact that Notion or Evernote suddenly became bad with spamming AI in the chat. So, what do you think? Should I trust Eubrics or look for something else?

P.S: I'm not in a dire need of such things, but I won't mind hearing about some that you guys have used before. ("-")
Nika

@chandan7Β Is your website right? πŸ™ƒ

AI also has many applications in life. For example, I use AI image recognition to help me choose which durian is ripe and has more flesh.
