Recently, we have a discussion about that topic with few friends, I am curious to know what the tech community thinks about this.

On the evening I think we should pop to another neighbourhood for a wander, drink and dinner. Happy not to go into the centre. Which would people recommend nearby? On the map I can see Chaillot, Ternes and Batignolles but it looks like the tube runs directly to other places. Any help appreciated. Xx

Depends on what you want to do with your life.
If you want to be a doctor, hell yes it's necessary!
As far as IT goes, however, I think no educational institution is adaptive enough to be able to catch up with the tempo things are changing here.
@katyaveremeichik mostly yes, no educational institution is adaptive enough

It's not necessary, it totally depends upon the person doing it.
This is skill based economy so more weightage should be toward how much you know rather thank how much you have studied.
Education is and education will always be necessary throughout.
All the guys who complain about education are those who've achieved significant milestones in their life through education.
Try to read people who've become rich and famous without education and somewhere they would have mentioned "I wish I would have studied."
People who acquire tertiary education are better placed to get well-paying jobs in the job market and develop a distinctive career path...Money Accounts is a team of qualified professionals that provide advice on how to manage money and assets efficiently.
I think going to college is great. You will get knowledge, meet new friends and get a job. But besides that I think this is just a stepping stone. You have to have a plan. If your plan is to go to college, get a job and retire early, then it's not necessary. I think college was created to teach you some life skills, which will help you to get further in life and earn more money. But if your plan is to become successful, then you need to get out of college and make your own luck.
It depends on the profession/career. Many people earn their education by practicing, reading books, and connecting with other people.
Higher education can help us make connections that can be valuable in the future. It is an investment in our relationships.
@sakshi_gahlawat thank you!
Definitely, a huge advantage of higher education is connections

I think it generally depends on the person. But more so than for the skills it gives you (for instance in tech, experience is probably more valuable than education), higher education provides an environment to grow as a person. It allows you to develop you personality, meet people that have totally different areas of interest. And all that without having the concerns of jobs and money right after high school.
