The forum guidelines basically say: if it's not a genuine question or insight, don't post it.

I went back and read the actual Product Hunt forum guidelines again. There's a line that keeps rattling around in my head.

The official summary is simple: before posting, ask yourself two things. Is this a genuine question I have that I want the community to answer? Is this an insight that will be helpful to other builders?

The guidelines also explicitly say to avoid "low-effort content" and "posts that don't invite meaningful conversation" .

I've been thinking about how many things I've wanted to post that weren't actually either of those. They were just... thoughts. Observations. Things I wanted to say out loud.

How do you tell the difference between "this is a genuine question" and "this is me wanting to say something"? Have you ever caught yourself trying to post something that didn't meet either bar?
