Testimonials: real names or anonymous?

by•

A quote from "Sarah, VP of Ops at a Fortune 500" hits hard on a landing page — right up until a savvy visitor notices

there's no company name, no photo, no link, and quietly discounts the whole thing as invented.

A fully named customer with a logo and a link is bulletproof proof. It's also a nightmare to get: legal review, brand approvals, a champion who has to convince three other people before they'll let their name appear next to mine.

So what actually happens is I collect a pile of vague praise from unnamed people, and it reads exactly like something

I wrote myself.

I've tried offering gift cards. I've tried making it a one-click approval. I've tried "just your first name and role." Nothing sticks.

How do you get credible, nameable proof without begging for six weeks and burning the relationship before it starts?
