Newsletter: weekly, monthly, or never?

by•

Weekly keeps you top of mind and builds a habit. People start expecting you, and expectation is a kind of loyalty.

It also runs out of things worth saying, and one boring issue teaches people to ignore the next ten.

Monthly is sustainable and easy to plan, but it's also forgettable — by the time it lands, they've forgotten who you are, and the open rate shows it.

"Only when we have something real" respects inboxes and makes every send feel important, but it also means months of silence, a list that goes cold, and a moment where you finally have news and nobody opens it.

I've committed to weekly twice and burned out twice. I've gone monthly and watched engagement die.

What cadence did you actually settle on, and did you ever regret committing to it publicly?
