How many AI products are actually solving problems, instead of just demonstrating AI?

Over the past few months, I've noticed a pattern.

Many new AI products have impressive demos. They write, summarize, generate, and automate.

But after the excitement fades, I keep asking one question:

What real workflow became easier?

The products I remember aren't the ones with the smartest model.

They're the ones that remove friction from something I already do:

• Save hours of repetitive work.

• Eliminate context switching.

• Reduce costly mistakes.

• Help me finish a task, not just generate content.

As AI models become cheaper and more capable, I wonder if the competitive advantage is shifting.

Maybe the winner won't be the product with the best AI.

Maybe it'll be the product with the best understanding of the user's workflow.
