New Feature: Highlights

by

We shipped the Highlight feature for FluentCap, addressing a common problem: when transcribing long content like 2-hour lectures or movies, important information gets buried in thousands of words and becomes difficult to find later.

Highlight allows marking key moments in real-time, even while the transcript is still streaming.

How It Works

During live transcription, FluentCap uses Instant-Apply Mode. Select text anywhere in the transcript, and the highlight is applied immediately without menu clicks. This matters because in fast environments like meetings or lectures, context menus are too slow.

When reviewing past sessions in History Mode, selecting text shows a context menu with Highlight and Copy options. To remove a highlight, hover over it and click the Remove button.

Highlight Collection

All highlights are consolidated in a Highlights tab in the sidebar, organized by session with collapsible sections. Each session shows title, date, and highlight count. Each card displays the marked text with a badge indicating Source or Translated.

Two bulk actions available: Copy All exports everything as structured text, Clear All removes everything with confirmation.

Cross-Session Navigation

Click any highlight card in the Collection, and FluentCap switches to that session, scrolls to the exact segment, and focuses the highlight with a color change and flash animation. You can have highlights across dozens of sessions and jump to any one in seconds.

History Mode also provides a Next button for sequential navigation with a position counter.

Storage and Privacy

Highlights are stored locally on your machine, never sent to any server. FluentCap uses a Hybrid Matching Strategy to ensure highlights survive when STT providers revise text mid-stream.

Use Cases

Language learning: highlight vocabulary while watching foreign content, export to Anki using Copy All. Research: mark key quotes, use navigation to return when writing. Business meetings: capture action items without breaking focus.

Available now, free like all FluentCap features.
