Familia - Plans, tasks, and everything a family calendar can't hold

I’m a dad of four little boys, and my AI agent, Chad, has been building Familia to help us keep everyday family life organized.

The first usable version was ready in about a week. I started using it right away, and after roughly another week, I stopped using my personal Google Calendar. Seriously.

Since then, we’ve been refining Familia around real life: the things we forget, the plans that change, and the little details that make an app easier to use every day.

My wife has been using it as her everyday organizer for several weeks now, too. Once she saw how simple it was, it became part of her routine. For me, that’s been an even bigger milestone.

With four little kids and no help from grandparents or a babysitter, we need more context than a calendar entry gives us: when practice starts, what the kids need to bring, who’s taking them, and who’s picking them up. Then there are all the tiny tasks that live in someone’s head - usually my wife’s.

One very ordinary example:

Before Familia: My wife texts me: “Please bring toilet paper up from the cellar.” I’m in my office upstairs. I reply, “Sure.” The next day: “You didn’t bring the paper up, did you?” Typical.

With Familia: She says to the app: “Remind Zdenek to bring toilet paper up from the cellar today.” I get a notification, confirm the task, and choose when I want to be reminded.

She no longer has to keep track of it for me.

Familia brings that everyday coordination together:
- Today’s overview: tasks, plans, deadlines, and unfinished items from previous days. Check your own day or another family member’s.
- A shared family board: see the bigger picture of what’s coming up and who’s doing what.
- Voice, text, and photo capture: turn everyday input into tasks and plans. Voice is the one I use most.
- Recurring reminders and shared lists: postpone or skip reminders, pause them during vacations, and keep lists for anything from groceries to feature ideas.
- Invitations and personal booking links: make coffee with friends or a visit with extended family easier to arrange.
- Natural-language search: ask questions like “Who’s picking up the kids next Tuesday?”
- Connections to AI assistants: manage tasks and plans through your preferred assistant, while keeping a simple app where the whole family can check what’s next.

Chad and I have been building, testing, and improving Familia with Codex for several months. When GPT-6 Astra became available, I started using it in that ongoing work. In my experience, it pays much closer attention to detail and design, and needs fewer iterations to get to what I intended. I’ve also started working with it on go-to-market strategy, marketing, and design beyond the app itself.

Our family has been the testing team throughout. Now I’d love to learn what other families need - and what we’ve missed.

What’s one small thing you keep having to remind someone in your family about / or someone reminds you all the time?

@ethicaldaddy I really like this idea, we currently use Google Calendar, but I love the additional functionality that @Familia provides. Are you considering options for Familia to integrate with Google or iCloud calendars in the future. I also appreciate the lifetime option for founders, how long will that be available?
