Why is staying consistent still so hard, even with goal trackers?

by

One thing I kept running into while building Dots:

People don’t struggle with setting goals.
They struggle with seeing their consistency clearly over time.

Most tools give numbers, streaks, or dashboards.
But those are easy to ignore—or reset mentally after a bad day.

So the question I’m exploring is:

Does a simple, visual system (like seeing your entire year on your lockscreen) make consistency more real?

Where:

  • Every day exists upfront

  • Missed days don’t disappear

  • Progress isn’t hidden inside charts

Curious how others think about this:

What actually helps you stay consistent—
Is it tracking more data, or seeing less but more clearly?
