Most buyers can find thousands of individual listings, but it’s much harder to answer a simpler question: are comparable diamond prices actually rising or falling? The index tracks natural and lab-grown diamonds separately, using a fixed quality benchmark and daily median asking prices. The index is free, and we’ve tried to be unusually direct about its methodology, limitations, and missing data. If a series doesn’t meet our reliability checks, we don’t publish it.
