Hello ProductHunt! This is Lukáš, the developer of Diagrams. The idea for this app came to me when I was looking for a tool to visualize architectures while developing software on my Mac. Since none of the existing tools suited my needs, I decided to dig into native Mac development and build it myself. Fortunately enough, we were able to form a small team, and have been working on it for the past two years. Our primary goal was to streamline the diagramming experience and tailor it to the work with structured diagrams, while still keeping it simple. This is why we have carefully considered every single aspect of the canvas interaction and visual style. Today, we’re proud to present to you the outcome: the initial version of Diagrams. Diagrams is now available on the Mac App Store as a one-time purchase. To celebrate the launch, you can get it at 33% off for a limited time. We’re looking forward to hearing your feedback!

@lukaskubanek Is there a feature roadmap published anywhere? While I like the simplicity of the app, there are a couple things that would make it more usable for me: 1. Multiline text in nodes 2. The ability to nest nodes (for example, showing that some nodes are conceptually linked)

@lukaskubanek @seanwashington When you hold the "options" key and press enter, you can type on multiple lines ;) Found out by trial and error after seeing examples on their website. i would love to have point 2 as well though! Something like nesting or "regions" to better indicate groups.

@seanwashington Hi Sean, thanks for your questions and feature requests. There is no public roadmap. First we have to sort out our priorities. 1. You can add a new line to an element caption using the shortcut ⌃↵. 2. Support for grouping is already listed in our backlog. Just +1’d it!

Lukas, I am so glad you kept your perfectionism during all the years! I used the alpha and beta versions almost every day. Today Diagrams has finally become a very grown up app! My congratulations and happy "birthday"! 🥳

Looks really great. Definitely what I was looking for a while. Any plans to make an app for iPadOS too? I would buy both to split my work between office and cafes.

@bekzat We don’t have the capacity to create an iPadOS/iOS version soon, but we also think that Diagrams is a good candidate for it. 😉

@alexkaessner ok, just purchased! It is amazing! Very simple app with great design. Love it. Definitely what I was looking for.

@alexkaessner please add a screen dragging option. Kinda easy to do it with touchpad, but when I use mouse and keyboard it is tough. Just like on Sketch: hold Space button and drag with a cursor or something.

@bekzat We are actually working on this right now. Should come with the next update, so stay tuned! 😉

@bekzat Hi Bekzat, the developer of Diagrams here. Today we released an update that supports the requested pan interaction. Please look up the update page in the App Store app.

You're a legend for this one.

I just purchased this, loving it, would be great to see some more polishing on the elements or kinda themes (e.g thinner borders etc)
Sal
@goldy_arora Totally agree👆. An option to either set our own colors to use or some themes would be a nice extra touch. Also an option to make the background a bit darker would be nice for those long nights planning out flows.

Ever since Overflow went the subscription route (and charged way too much) I’ve been looking for a good diagram tool for User Flows. Can’t wait to try this one out.

After using Diagrams in beta for a while, I'm glad to finally buy this! Thanks for making this!

AWESOME! Send already my money to your pocket. Thanks for this app, Lukas!

This is awesome! LucidChart is typically my go-to for any diagrams I'm building. I always prefer native apps though, and supporting an indie development team is a huge plus too. It doesn't appear to support UML diagrams (system sequence and database diagrams are the two I use most), so I would love to see that and potentially better collaboration features as well. Other than that though this looks great.
