I don't think creating the proposal is actually the annoying part.

I've been thinking a lot about this while building DealClose.

Imagine you just finished a great call with a potential client.

They basically told you:

Here's what I need.
Here's the problem.
Here's the timeline.
Send me something.

  1. The deal is warm.

  2. Then the weird part starts.

  3. You open an old proposal.

  4. Copy it.

  5. Change the client's name.

  6. Rewrite the scope.

  7. Figure out the pricing.

  8. Export a PDF.

  9. Write an email.

  10. Send it.

  11. Wait.

  12. Check whether they replied.

  13. Follow up.

  14. Send another reminder.

  15. Then maybe open another tool for the signature.

  16. Then another link for payment.

When I started looking closely at this workflow, I realized the problem wasn't really:

"People need prettier proposals."

The bigger problem seems to be everything that happens between:

"That was a good sales call."

and

"The client signed and paid."

That's what I've been trying to simplify with the product I'm building.

And the more I work on it, the more I wonder how different this process is across freelancers, agencies, consultants, and sales teams.

If you regularly send quotes or proposals, what is the most annoying part of the process for you today?

Creating it? Pricing it? Following up? Getting the signature? Chasing payment?
