Cutout - Free background remover for Chrome that never uploads

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Sudarshan aka buildwithsud, the maker of Cutout. Most background removers upload your photo to someone else's server, then ask for a sign-up, credits or a watermark before you can download the result. I wanted one that just does the job: no account, no upload, nothing to pay for. So Cutout is a Chrome extension that runs the whole AI model on your own computer. Click the icon and drop, paste or pick photos, or right-click any image on the web, and you get a transparent PNG in one step. It also handles batches (download them as one zip), has a restore/erase brush and edge controls for tricky spots, lets you swap in a colour or blurred background, and has zoom and pan for checking fine detail. A few honest details: • It bundles the IS-Net model (Apache-2.0) with ONNX Runtime Web. That's why the download is about 90 MB, and why it works offline. It uses WebGPU when Chrome offers it and falls back to the CPU. On my older laptop without a usable GPU one photo takes about 16 seconds ("Faster" mode cuts that by roughly 40%). • Wispy hair, glass and steam can trip it up. The before/after slider on the site is a real result from the model, not a mock-up, and it drops the steam above the mug, which is exactly what the brush is for.
