more data I would love to see: 1. how many people were vaccinated per vaccine type(Moderna / Pfizer / Oxford/ Chinese/ Russian) 2. How many vaccines each country has purchased 3. How many vaccines were administered per age range in the population.
Totally helpful! We will take it and update asap Appreciate the valuable feedback πŸ’™
Not sure you can share but I'm so curious - where do you get your data? Also, what tech stack did you use for this??
Hey Jimmy! Yea sure, you can find all the sources on the about page here - We will add more sources in the near future as well. The stack is React.js + Ruby Serverless lambda + 2 cron jobs that updating the data every hour and that's all πŸ™‚
Awesome! Just curious as I'm new to cloud tech, does serverless lambda refer to a AWS service?
Lambda is AWS's implementation of "serverless functions". Most cloud providers offer something like this. The idea is you don't manage servers or any type of compute resources. You essentially "upload your code" then it runs on-demand in response to a configurable event such as an HTTP request, timer (cron), database insertion, etc. If you run code through Lambdas it basically scales infinitely and you never have to worry about it or touch it again.
Wow. That is dope and the best explanation of that I've heard... Could be a blog post!
thanks a bunch! I love Lambdas and use them whenever I have an opportunity! Will think about a blog post :).
Hey Everyone πŸ‘‹ and I are the creators of . The global mission to administer COVID vaccines is finally bearing fruits! A handful of vaccines have now been authorized all over the world and countries have begun vaccinating their populations. We decided to make the data more accessible with a simple dashboard that updates every hour - showing what percentage of each country has received the vaccine. So yeah, that's it! I hope you enjoy the Live Dashboard πŸ˜€ Needless to say, we're super excited to be on Product Hunt today! My co-founders Ori () and I will be around all day to listen to any ideas and feedback you might have. Thanks!
Great! maybe make more stats like Vaccines today?
Thanks Geert! Yes, we will try to improve it and add more granular data over time. Appreciate your feedback πŸ™
great site! the key question I have when looking at your site is how do you account for 1st vs. 2nd dose?
this is less relevant in the first days of the national vaccination campaigns, but will soon become important: some countries may unusual sequencing approaches, and if you have country A with 11% of the population having received dose 1 and 7% having received dose 2, then that country has a very different level of protection from country B where 11% have received dose 1, but 0% dose 2.
Woohoo! First of all, thank you so much. πŸ™Œ And about the question. Its a great question, we sharing currently what "ourworldindata.org" are sharing. "Total number of vaccination doses administered per 100 people in the total population. This is counted as a single dose, and may not equal the total number of people vaccinated, depending on the specific dose regime (e.g. people receive multiple doses)." Currently we does not support a breakdown for 1st vs 2nd dose, but looking forward to add it as fast as possible.
Totally agree about it.
great, thank you very much for the background!
Awesome ! But how come Africa is empty ? I know that a few countries started administrating the vaccines there with the help of China, a couple of weeks before the EU & the US.
Lack of open data maybe?
Finally, something positive in a wave of negative news! Would be cool to see if somehow you can introduce some components of the -- in the list, such as a statistic of vaccinations per million inhabitants and maybe graphs in a later stage :) gives a more in-depth perspective. Either way great concept!
Thank you Nicolaas πŸ™ Totally agree with you. Some light in all of this situation. We will look on what you shared and will update. Appreciate your feedback :)
Do you have the amount of vaccine doses each country has received? That could be an interesting extra data point. Especially since we know some places have been very slow in distributing. You might see other countries topping the list in terms of efficiency in distribution vs total % of population vaccinated.
I think it's hard to measure because if I take the example of my country, France, for example. Even though the government is a bit slow to deliver, if the numbers are not increasing fast it's mostly because a lot of us plainly refuse to be vaccinated
Hey guys we added those metric, please give it a look πŸ‘€ Will be happy to hear your thoughts! you can see it per each country (not include the US yet) here an example:
amazing live updates!
Super cool! Love itπŸ™
Thank you Maayan~! πŸ™
