Launching Soon — would you use a cloud IDE as your main dev environment?
Hey Product Hunt community! 👋
I'm Augustine, the founder of Cloudpen. Tomorrow I'm launching a complete cloud IDE that runs entirely in your browser — no installation, no setup, no hardware dependency.
I've been building Cloudpen for months and I'm genuinely excited to finally share it here.
Here's the short version of what it is: a professional development environment where you can write code, run it in a real terminal, deploy to a live URL with automatic SSL, collaborate with teammates, and get AI help, all from a single browser tab. It works on any device, including your phone.
The honest reason I built it: developer tooling is fragmented and expensive, and a lot of that burden falls hardest on developers who are already dealing with unreliable hardware and limited access to paid tools. Cloudpen consolidates VS Code, GitHub, Vercel, and Copilot into one $12/month subscription. For students it's $6/month, every renewal.
Before the launch goes live in few days, I'd love to hear from this community:
Would you use a cloud IDE as your primary environment or as a secondary tool alongside your local setup?
What would make you actually switch from your current workflow?
Happy to answer any questions about how it's built or what's coming next. Looking forward to the conversation 🙏
