Hey Product Hunters, and thanks for hunting Christopher Bot! I’m Alec Jones and I'm 14 years old. About 6 months ago, I decided to build a bot that could help students of all ages, all over the world. So I made Christopher Bot, a Facebook Messenger bot that keeps track of your homework. I was tired of trying to remember to write down my homework or enter it in a task app, so I wanted someone to keep track of it all for me. Christopher Bot asks you what homework you were assigned at the end of every class. Then at the end of the day, he texts you a list of all the homework from your day (and displays it on a webpage for the entire week). He texts you Monday to Friday at whatever time your classes end. He can send you a list of commands. He pauses when you're on vacation, and then he resumes when you get back. Fun Fact: Christopher is the name Alan Turing gave to his machine in WWII that cracked the Enigma, and it's the reason I named my bot Christopher. Thank you for checking out Christopher Bot — hope you like him. P.S. I’m in school today, but I’ll try to answer questions between classes.
Awesome work man. Do you have any plans to have a different number of classes per day? Most college students don't have a fixed number of classes, so it's not really that helpful yet for us. But if you can get that going, this would be so sick.
actually, you dont need to have the same number per day. Just enough for the most amount of classes you have in a day. But you can totally leave some form spots blank.
Got it! Let's get this going!
I love it. Shipping a product as a 14-year-old one man army is inspiring. But even more inspiring is that you saw an opportunity and acted on it. Keep that going and you'll get to make even more awesome products.
Thank you. I always appreciate the words of encouragement
Way to go... I'm 44 and you at 14 years old have inspired me to keep on following my dreams
Awesome bot! You should consider adding a way to have multiple timetables. For example, 1 week on Monday, I might have Math first, but the next, I might have English.
yes. One of the things on my list to build is a 10 day student schedule for that exact situation
I would love to see your wishlist and be able to somehow watch you check it off one by one. Your progress will be great to see.
Wow, brilliant bot! Christopher Bot is very helpful and intuitive and I am pleased to say I have signed up for it! The commands are very self-explanatory and it is easy to use! I can't wait to see how this works out for me in the first few days. Great work Alec!
Thank you so much. If you have any questions or concerns you can email me using the site's contact form or on twitter.
I will!
Love this!!!! Keep building stuff! I love people who are driven and don't wait til they graduate to pursue their dreams. Honestly, just keep doing this, and talk to users, and you'll get very far.
thank you and I'll keep doing just that!
Well-done 👏 Impressive as a 14yo man. You're solving a problem many students have so for that congrats 👍
Thanks. I too agree, and hope that many students will use Christopher Bot to help them
Good job Alec. Looking forward to using it. P.S. Your repo: has some of the funniest commits I've seen. :D
I can get frustrated sometimes and don't put much thought into my commits😅
great job, ! One question though... will Christopher Bot do my homework for me? :)
If he could do that...I think Christopher Bot would be a lot more popular
Nice job on this, Alec! It's come a long way in the last 6 months -- amazing work. :)
Thanks Jo Jo
